Genesi Protection has carried out safety measures for Italy’s largest amusement park, designing safety systems designed to accompany operators during maintenance activities, reducing risks and preserving the aesthetics of the attractions.

The typical critical issues of attractions

Amusement park rides present various risks that HSE and RSPP must prevent.
Genesi Protection has addressed each critical issue with a dedicated solution.

1. Absence of a safe route

Operators were forced to move around on unprotected surfaces, with a high risk of falling from height.

Design and implementation of a continuous and secure work path, allowing operators to move at height in complete safety during maintenance operations.

2. Temporary lifeline

The temporary solutions did not guarantee operational continuity or adequate levels of safety over time.

Installation of a permanent fall protection system, designed to accompany operators along the entire ride, eliminating the need for temporary assembly and disassembly.

3. Aesthetic and structural issues

Each intervention had to integrate perfectly with the carousel, without compromising its visual appearance or supporting structure.e.

Use of anchor points equipped with self-locking nuts, designed to withstand the vibrations generated by the movement of the carousel. All components have been painted in the same colour as the structure, making them virtually invisible to visitors.

What solutions did Genesi Protection adopt?

Genesi Protection designed and installed a complete, tailor-made system, designed to allow operators to work at height on a daily basis in complete safety.

• Walkway ST01-2017: modular, non-slip and corrosion-resistant structure, designed to ensure safe passage at height. The walkway was installed at monorail level and secured using metal poles with plates and counterplates, without the need to drill into the attraction. The supports were painted the same colour as the structure, making the installation invisible to park visitors.
• AluxCrab Rail: installed above the walkway, it allows operators to attach themselves with mobile fall arrest devices, ensuring freedom of movement along the entire route and maximum operational continuity.
• EAR12 Anchor point: located at strategic points throughout the structure, they offer additional connection options for localised control and maintenance operations.
• A fundamental technical measure was the use of self-locking nuts, capable of ensuring that the fastenings remain secure even in the presence of continuous vibrations, eliminating the risk of unscrewing.

The intervention led to measurable and immediate results:

• Safe and continuous working path for maintenance personnel
• Reduced risk of falls from height
• Operational continuity, without interfering with the normal functioning of the attraction
• Tailor-made solutions, respecting the aesthetic and structural constraints of the attraction
