Retractable devices, like lanyards, fulfil the function of connecting the operator to the fall arrest system.
Compared to fall arrest lanyards, retractable devices allow for greater freedom of movement and arrest in less space.

The choice of the retractable type fall arrester best suited to one’s protective needs must be based on

• distance of the working area from the anchorage point;
• presence of obstacles or particular environments;
• need for horizontal use;
• possibility of falling on edges.

All Genesi retractable devices comply with the PPE Regulation 2016/425 as third category PPE.

Fall protection

Compliant with EN 360. Retractable devices against falls from height.
Optionally drop tested on edge. Available with a wide range of cables or textile webbing.

Rescue

In addition to EN 360, they also comply with EN 1496 cl. A or B for recovery. These are retractable devices equipped with a recovery crank: in the event of a fall, the support operator can recover the injured person by operating the system crank.

Self-rescue

Compliant with EN 360 and EN 341. Retractable devices that allow the hooked operator to be rescued independently. In the event of a fall, the product secures the operator and then lowers him to the ground at a controlled speed.

Before choosing a retractable device with these characteristics, it is essential to check that the space below the working area is free of obstacles and that the length of the rope is sufficient to allow the operator to reach the ground.
